Jorstad Incorporated was formed in 1985 to serve the income tax and financial needs of small to medium sized businesses with specialized expertise in the entertainment, real estate, legal, medical and personal service industries.
Timothy J Jorstad, CPA/MBA began his career in public accounting in 1975 with a large, international public accounting firm, now KPMG. After completing the required two years of auditing experience and becoming certified in 1978, Tim began specializing in the area of income tax law, graduating in 1980 from Golden Gate University with a Masters degree in tax law. Tim has served as a receiver for the Superior Courts of San Francisco, Marin and Mendocino counties. He has qualified as an expert witness and he has testified in excess of fifty times in judicial and jury trials on issues concerning business and contract disputes; lost income claims and family law property settlement and support matters. Tim was the executive vice president and director of a large land development and home building company for two years in the early 1980's. Tim was a founding shareholder and chairman of Business Bancorp (BZBC), a $750 million asset, state chartered bank headquartered in San Rafael, CA which was sold to Union Bank of California in January 2004. Tim is founder and chairman of AltaPacific Bank, a state chartered bank headquartered in Santa Rosa, California which opened July 2006.
John H. Kirk, Jr., CPA/MA Tax joined the firm on January 1, 1999 as an income tax manager. John is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara in business economics with an accounting emphasis. John worked as an accountant for Headlands Mortgage in Marin County for three years before joining the audit staff of Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP. John left his employment with Price Waterhouse Coopers as an senior associate to begin his master degree in tax law program at Golden Gate University in San Francisco which he completed in 2000.
Radoslav Simeonov, MBA - Taxation joined the firm on July 1, 2002 as an income tax specialist. Rado is a graduate of University of Denver Graduate School of Taxation in 1996 and Concord College, West Virginia with a degree in Business Administration in Accounting in 1995. Rado worked as an income tax specialist at two local CPA firms as well as working as a senior tax associate of Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP in San Francisco from 1996 through 1998. Rado is fluent in several languages including English, German, Russian and Bulgarian.
Michael Stites, CPA, is the new addition to our Tax group this year. Michael began his career at Deloitte & Touche and Price Watershouse. He has been a tax consultant with Haas & Reaney LLP in Petaluma for the past 11 years.
Ratna Kennedy, MBA , joined the firm in May 2005 to provide bookkeeping and business management services to a number of the firm's entertainment clients. Ratna received her MBA from Golden Gate University in 1994 with an emphasis on International Management. Ratna also has degrees in Business and Accounting from Utah State University in 1988. She was recently promoted to Manager of the Business Management department and will oversee all client matters.
Liz Sykes, Accountant, joined the firm in July 2004 to provide bookkeeping and business management services to a number of the firm's entertainment clients. Liz has just graduated from San Francisco State with a BS in Finance.
Renee C. Paisley, Accountant, joined the firm in 2016 as an accountant. She is a graduate of the University of Lima, earning her BA in Accounting. Renee has worked as an accountant and contract administrator in the leasing, financial services and legal professions. Renee also has her Real Estate license and is fluent in Spanish.
Kirsie Jorstad Feist, Bookkeeper, joined the firm in January, 2013 as an assistant bookkeeper and Notary in the business management department. She works with the other bookkeeping staff on the firm's entertainment clients and helps out with administrative jobs in both business management and tax departments. Kirstie has a Masters in Special Education and Teaching Credential and is also a licensed hair stylist. We hope this is her last career stop!
Deisi Gomez, joined the firm in August, 2014 as the firm's administrative assistant. She will be working in both the tax department and business management department. Deisi worked in the Dental and Restaurant industries before joining us. Deisi is fluent in Spanish.
Chrissy Gates, rejoined the firm this summer on a part-time basis. Chrissy worked as our full time administrative assistant before her children were born back in 2002. She will be helping out during tax season on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Deborah Kirk Jorstad, co-owner and office manager of Jorstad Incorporated, is responsible for all of the firm's internal accounting including client billing, accounts receivable, bill paying and general office administration. She has been with the firm from its inception. Deborah began her career in 1974 with a large, international public accounting firm working in that firm's internal accounting department.
